Blogger, media consultant of “Radio Svaboda” and creator of “Belarus of the brain” Ihar Losik was detained even before the presidential election, in June 2020. In December 2021, he was sentenced to 15 years in a reinforced regime prison for the “Tikhanovski case".
Immediately after the verdict, Igor stated that he did not admit his guilt and declared an indefinite hunger strike. His wife Daria supported her husband, but later had to give up the hunger strike for the sake of her daughter.
Daria was imprisoned two years after Ihar's conviction. In January 2023, she was sentenced to 2 years in prison for an interview with the TV channel “Belsat,” which was recognized as “extremist” in Belarus. Daria was accused of “promoting extremist activity”.
Ihar Losik subsequently went on hunger strike several times and cut his veins, protesting against the imprisonment.
Ihar and Dasha Losik have a four-year-old daughter, Pavlina, whose custody was registered by Daria's parents. They refused the state aid for the child, raising and bringing up their granddaughter together with Ihar's parents.
Telegram channel “Belarus of the brain”, the founder of which is Ihar Losik, today published a post in which they said that from Ihar for more than a year does not come any news from prison.
“Today is the birthday of the founder of our channel Ihar Losik. He turns 32 years old. Unfortunately, on this day he won't be able to be near his family and friends, he won't be able to hug his little daughter, he won't receive presents. The regime threw him in jail for 15 years on far-fetched and heinous charges. For more than a year there is no news from Ihar Losik at all,” the publication says.
