“We have no reason to believe in the validity of the charges. The Ministry again recommends to refrain from traveling to Belarus, as Lithuanian citizens may be illegally detained, subjected to fictitious charges and questioned by Belarusian security agencies,” Delfi quoted Lithuanian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Paulina Levitskite.
According to the Lithuanian edition of 15min, Ramanauskienė could be detained last year, when she was returning to Lithuania from Belarus, where she was visiting relatives.
Back in 2021, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry recommended its citizens not to travel to Belarus, while the citizens there - to leave it.
Recall, last fall, the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania reported that several citizens of this country were detained or imprisoned in Belarus. According to the agency, some of them may be illegally held in captivity.
Although the exact number of such people was not named, the Lithuanian agency stated that only in 2023 it had informed three times about “intensive hostile and provocative actions of the Belarusan services” against Lithuanian citizens who live in Belarus or temporarily travel there.
