The Internal Security Agency (ABW) of Poland has detained three suspects in working for Russian intelligence and committing sabotage. Among them are two citizens of Belarus and one citizen of Poland.
The detainees were found a suspicious cargo in the car. The car contained empty canisters, various types of cables, a large amount of cash in different currencies, phones, scrap.
They are charged with participation in an organized criminal group, acting against Poland in the interests of foreign intelligence, as well as participation in activities organized by Russian intelligence and aimed at sabotage in Poland. The police arrested them for three months. They face up to life imprisonment if proven guilty, the pap.pl publication notes.
“On the order of the prosecutor of the Lower Silesia branch of the Office for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Wroclaw, officers of the Internal Security Agency detained three people as part of an investigation into sabotage activities by foreign intelligence of the Russian Federation. One of the detainees is a Polish citizen and two are citizens of Belarus,” reads the press release of the National Prosecutor's Office of Poland.
Poland is now investigating several sabotage activities, including arson and attempted arson, which are linked to Russian intelligence services. Belarusians have been detained on suspicion of sabotage activities on behalf of the Russian security services before.
Polish security service recalls that in January 2024, ABW detained a citizen of Ukraine, who was preparing to set fire to buildings in Wroclaw. The proceedings revealed items that could be used for further sabotage activities of this type.
