Over the past three months, Russian military aviation has dropped 53 high-explosive bombs (HEBs) on its own regions and occupied territories of Ukraine. One of the most recent cases occurred on May 20, when the Russian Air Force dropped three bombs on the villages of Krutoy Log and Shebekino in the Belgorod Region.
Two FAB-500s fell in the suburbs of Belgorod on May 12, just a few kilometers from where the entrance of an apartment building collapsed the same day. The bombs buried themselves in the ground and did not explode. Afterward, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov called on residents to evacuate due to the bombs being defused.
The Insider reports that in 2024, at least 39 "out-of-order drops of aerial munitions" were recorded on the territory of the Belgorod region, including 38 modifications of FABs and one X-59 missile. At least twice FABs fell directly in Belgorod.
Earlier this year, a Russian aerial bomb fell on the village of Petropavlovka in Voronezh Oblast. The incident left four people injured. More than 100 residential houses, a school, a house of culture, and an administrative building were damaged.
Following the previous incident, a Russian FAB fell on the town of Rubizhne in the self-proclaimed "LPR" while shelling Ukraine. Residents of adjacent houses were evacuated as a result of the incident. Five people, including two children, were sent to temporary accommodation centers, while the rest decided to move to relatives or friends.
