Two planes of Yamal Airlines emergency landed due to breakdowns in Tyumen. The Ural Transport Prosecutor's Office reported this on May 22.
The crew of the Sukhoi Superjet 100, which was on a flight from Ufa to Novy Urengoy, reported a failure of automation. The pilot decided to direct the airplane to an alternate airfield in Tyumen. The landing went smoothly.
On the same day, a Yamal Airlines Airbus 320, which was en route from Ufa to Noyabrsk, landed at the same airport due to depressurization of the cockpit. There were 93 passengers on board.
The day before, a Red Wings airplane failed to fly from Chelyabinsk to Novy Urengoy due to a technical malfunction. The flight was delayed for 16.5 hours. Out of 38 registered passengers, 21 people were accommodated in a hotel for the waiting time.
The number of incidents due to technical malfunctions increased after the introduction of EU and US sanctions. At least 74 airplane breakdowns in the air were recorded in 2023, 38 more than in 2022. There were almost 10 incidents for every 100,000 departures, compared to only five a year earlier.
According to 'Rosaviation', 670 aviation incidents occurred in 11 months, of which 400 were related to equipment failure, including engines. The problems are obvious: carriers cannot legally purchase new foreign aircraft and original spare parts, and aviation regulators allow parts to be used longer than safety standards allow.
Russia cannot establish its own production. According to Oliver Wyman's forecast, the country's aircraft fleet will more than halve by 2026.
