In the Kemerovo region of Russia 49-year-old former participant of the war in Ukraine detained on suspicion of murder of a 12-year-old girl. About it reports the press service of the regional Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation.
12-year-old Karina K. was missing in the morning of June 18, when she left home and stopped making contact. She was reported missing, but today the girl's body was found in the well of an abandoned building in the town of Topki. Police found signs of violent death on Karina's body. The investigation suggests that the little girl was raped before the murder.
Five years ago, Bykov was sentenced to 13.5 years in a penal colony for the murder of an elderly woman. During a conflict, the man took offense at the insults, hit the pensioner on the head with a bucket and strangled her. He tried to bury the body. Before that, Bykov had been tried several times for theft and infliction of grievous bodily harm resulting in death.
From the colony, Bykov enlisted in "Storm Z". By the end of 2023, he was captured and spent several months there. Ukrainian journalists published a video of his interrogation. Later, the "Storm Z" was put on the lists for exchange. In February, he returned to his homeland.
On the video of the interrogation, which appeared on Youtube in late December 2023, Bykov said that he committed his first crime in 1991, and since then he has regularly served time in colonies. In between sentences, he made a living from casual labor. His last sentence, according to Bykov, was for murder, and he was due to be released in 2032.
"It's terrible that a convict has been released, he killed another local woman a few years ago for literally nothing, he should have been in jail for another 10 years, and suddenly he's free. It's more frightening that now they will put him back in prison, and then he will go back to Special military operation and live a hero's life, as many cons have already done," a local resident familiar with Bykov told Sibir.Realii.
