In the State Duma introduced for consideration a bill requiring the sale of smartphones only with the RuStore application.
The explanatory note indirectly says that such a decision was made against the background of Apple's restrictions on applications of Russian banks in the App Store, as well as restrictions on downloading analogs of payment systems.
According to the explanatory note, in accordance with the laws on personal data and banking activities, the RuStore app store was created and is available on Android devices, but other manufacturers, among them Apple, continue to "set prohibitive conditions that do not allow downloading RuStore".
Thus, owners of Apple appliances cannot make payments or other banking transactions due to the inability to install the necessary functionality on the devices.
"The proposed approach will allow to ensure without cost to the federal budget fault tolerance and uninterrupted provision of Internet services, private and public services to Russian citizens," the authors of the initiative note.
The deputies note that they would like to repeat the history with the European Union, which in 2022 obliged Apple to allow installation of third-party application stores.
RuStore is a Russian alternative to the AppStore marketplace. The Russian version does not include programs of sub-sanctioned Russian companies.
