The attack began on the evening of April 13, at approximately 22:00.
Initially, it was reported that UAVs were launched from Iran, which took several hours to reach Israel. Then the launch of cruise missiles was also reported. IDF spokesman, Daniel Hagari, said that in total, more than 200 aerial targets were launched.
Iran's state media almost instantly confirmed the attack. "In response to the Zionist regime's crime of attacking the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, the IRGC Air Force hit certain targets in the Zionist regime's territories with dozens of drones and missiles," the IRGC said.
Prime Minister Netanyahu addressed the nation immediately after the attack began, emphasizing that Israel had been preparing for the strike. He noted that defense systems were deployed and authorities were prepared for any scenario.

Hours later, Tehran announced that the "attack is over," but warned of a possible response to future Israeli actions. At the time of the announcement, the drones and missiles had not yet reached Israeli airspace. Also, Iran's UN delegation warned the U.S. to "stay away" from the conflict.
Israel was assisted in intercepting the drones by the UK and US air forces, and some were intercepted by the Jordanian Air Force. Despite this, some of the drones still reached the country. Media reports that more than 30 people sought medical attention after the attack was completed.
Israeli officials say 99% of the attack targets have been intercepted. "However, the fact that this is the first time Iran is attacking Israel from its territory demands a response - and it will soon follow," one of them said.
