Ukraine has attacked a large Russian warship, the Novocherkassk, in Feodosiya

The landing ship was hit by guided missiles from aircraft. According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the ship was carrying Shahed-136 drones and is beyond repair.

The blast from the Novocherkassk’s destruction in Feodosia was so powerful that it knocked down signboards, shattered doors and windows, and damaged buildings.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed the loss of the Novocherkassk, but claimed that it only «sustained damage.

Meanwhile, local residents have posted on social media footage of what the Russian warship looks like after the attack. According to them, the Novocherkassk is reduced to rubble.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time that this ship has been targeted by the Ukrainian army. Previously, the Novocherkassk was attacked by the Armed Forces of Ukraine exactly one month after the start of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, on March 24, 2022. It is reliably known that three crew members of this amphibious assault ship died, but the ship itself was not destroyed at that time.

The large landing ship Novocherkassk was built at the shipyard in the Polish city of Gdansk. It was designed to land troops on unprepared coasts and transport troops and cargo by sea. The ship joined the Black Sea Fleet on November 30, 1987. Since then, the ship has participated in various military exercises, and since February 2022 it has been actively used in the Russian Federation's full-scale attack on Ukraine.
