According to the Ukrainian president's website information, Belgium will provide military aid of at least €977 million this year.
The document sets out Belgium's commitments and readiness to support Kyiv over the next ten years. The report specifies that within the framework of the security agreement, for the first time, a specific number of military aircraft - 30 F-16s, which the country will provide to Ukraine until 2028 - is specified. The first fighter jets are to be handed over already this year.
Belgium pledges to provide Ukraine with timely security assistance, including modern equipment and weapons for the air force, air defense, maritime security, and demining. The country will also facilitate military training and work within the coalition on munitions issues.
The document includes sections on bilateral defense cooperation, support for the Ukrainian Peace Formula, strengthening sanctions, and reparations. Special attention is paid to holding the aggressor accountable, using confiscated Russian assets for Ukraine's needs, and assisting in the country's economic recovery.
In addition, the agreement provides for cooperation in intelligence, cybersecurity, and combating disinformation. Belgium also supported Ukraine's future membership in the EU and NATO.
According to the Ukrainian presidential office, Belgium became the 11th country to sign a bilateral security agreement within the framework of the G7 Joint Declaration adopted on 12 July last year. A total of 32 countries have already joined the declaration. Earlier, Ukraine signed similar agreements with the UK, Germany, France and other countries.
