In Lisbon, Zelenskyy announced that the Global Peace Summit will discuss three main items: nuclear and food security, as well as the return of deportees and prisoners.
“First of all, we wanted to find points that do not divide us from the world, and even from those countries that balance and do not fully support Ukraine. It was very important for us to rely solely on the UN Charter,” the president said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the summit will address important issues, including the return of children, nuclear security, and attacks on Ukrainian energy, but doubts that all problems can be solved. “This is a separate issue. I'm not sure we will settle it in time,” he added.
The President is convinced that countries aiming for peace are united in respecting the three points of the Peace Formula. He stated that it is necessary to start with something to attract the world majority: “What will happen after that? At the technical level, our representatives of leaders, representatives of all nations will already be working out the details of each of these points.”
The process of further movement will be similar to the grain initiative. Zelenskyy recalled that together with President Erdoğan and UN Secretary-General Guterres, the details of the grain corridor were worked out, which was then handed over to the representatives of Russia. He also noted that Russia's withdrawal from this initiative was a violation of the agreement not with Ukraine but with the international community, stressing that this was an important example of Russia's failure to fulfill its commitments.
