Zelenskyy accused China of trying to disrupt the summit, but the Chinese deny everything.

The peace summit in Switzerland is getting closer. Participation has already confirmed 107 countries and organizations. This was stated by the press Secretary of Zelenskyy Nikiforov. He specified that the conference will be present, including the Philippines and Singapore, where Zelenskyy made visits earlier.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy accused China of trying to “disrupt” the peace summit in Switzerland. He claimed that Beijing was “making every effort” to dissuade other countries from going to the conference in Switzerland, to which Russia was not invited. The People's Republic of China earlier said it insisted on “equal” participation of the parties in the talks.

“It is unfortunate that a powerful and independent country like China is a tool in Putin's hands”.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning replied that Beijing had never “fanned the flames or fed the flames” of the war between Russia and Ukraine. She said the peace summit should be recognized by both the Russian and Ukrainian sides.

“Not attending the summit in Switzerland does not mean not supporting peace. Some countries, even if they participate, do not necessarily want with all their heart for the conflict to end. What matters is what actions are taken. China has never sat back and stoked the fire, much less profited from the conflict. Instead, we have relentlessly pursued a ceasefire, and this has been highly appreciated by various parties, including Russia and Ukraine,” Mao Ning said.

She added that “China is still Ukraine's largest trading partner. Our embassy in Ukraine continues to operate as usual. China values its strategic partnership with Kiev”.

Today, the Australian Foreign Ministry said that the country will be represented at the summit on Ukraine in Switzerland not by the prime minister, but by the minister of the disability insurance system. According to the newspaper, Kiev insisted on the participation of the prime minister or his deputy, but the Australian Foreign Ministry found the current level of representation acceptable.

It also became known today that Pakistan will also skip the peace summit in Switzerland, wishing to preserve its neutrality. The Hungarian government said that it had not yet decided whether to participate in the summit.

We would like to remind you that Russia, China, Saudi Arabia, the presidents of Brazil and South Africa, as well as US President Biden and Vice President Harris will not be present at the summit.

A peace summit on Ukraine is due to be held in Switzerland on June 15-16. It is reported that up to 4 thousand Swiss military personnel will provide security for the participants of the summit on Ukraine in Switzerland from June 5 to 19, 2024.

Thirty-three years ago, a ceasefire brought an end to the Transnistrian War—sometimes described by locals as the Russian-Moldovan War. Although the tensions officially ended in 1992, its consequences continue to shape Moldovan politics, society, and security — especially in view of the upcoming parliamentary elections.
