In Kyiv in the morning on Tuesday, June 18, there was an assassination attempt on the Kazakh oppositionist, head of the information channel BASE Aidos Sadykov. About it in his Facebook wrote his wife, journalist Natalia Sadykova.
"Today in Kyiv, near his own house, there was an assassination attempt on Aidos Sadykov," she writes in social network.
Earlier the Ukrainian media reported on the shooting in the Shevchenko district of Kyiv.
According to "Suspilne", an unknown person shot Sadykov when he was in the car. The journalist survived and is now in serious condition in hospital, his wife, who was with him in the car, was not injured.
The National Police of Ukraine published a photo of Sadykov's car, which shows that the glass in the driver's side door was broken by a bullet.
"According to preliminary information, an unknown person with a gun ran up to the car, where there was the victim and his wife, fired a shot at the man, then fled", - said the press service of the Prosecutor General's office of Ukraine.
The shooter attacked Aydos Sadykov in Shevchenkivsky district of the city, just near the house where he lived with his wife Natalia.
Sadykov and his wife moved to Kyiv from Kazakhstan's Aktobe in 2014 after a criminal case was opened against Natalia Sadykova. Aidos Sadykov was prosecuted in his home country, as he claims, for political reasons. In Ukraine, they received refugee status. Last fall, Aydos and Natalia Sadykov, who in particular run the youtube channel "Bәse", were put on the wanted list by the Kazakh authorities on charges of inciting discord.
Over the past few years, Sadykov has criticized the current Kazakh authorities, including the current president, Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, accusing him of "working for Russia". He also actively supported the January 2022 protests in Kazakhstan.
