The new commander of the Special Operations Forces
Serhiy Lupanchuk was appointed as the new commander of the Special Forces by President Zelensky's Decree. Previously, since July 2022, this position was held by Major General Viktor Khorenko, who replaced Hryhoriy Galagan. Galagan, in turn, was transferred to another job, becoming the first deputy head of the SBU Special Operations Center as part of the renewal of the Security Service of Ukraine.
It is important to note, that the Special Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were created in 2016. Until 2020, their head was Lieutenant General Igor Lunev.
According to an article in Time magazine about Volodymyr Zelensky and the situation in Ukraine, it is said that changes in the government will be made before winter arrives, including the dismissal of at least one minister and the replacement of the general in charge of Ukraine's counteroffensive. These actions may be part of a broad strategy by the Ukrainian authorities to adapt to the changing environment and strengthen efforts to fight the conflict.
