Greene has proposed extraordinary amendments to the Ukraine funding bill that the U.S. House of Representatives plans to consider at the end of the week. However, due to their unusual nature, they are unlikely to find support among their colleagues.
One proposed amendment would require any House member voting in favor of the bill to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Greene commented on Twitter, "If you want to fund a war, why don't you fight in it."
Another amendment requires Ukraine to close its "bio-laboratories" and hand over data on the research conducted in them to the US government. If these conditions are not met, Ukraine will not receive the planned funding.
Other amendments require a report confirming that Christian churches in Ukraine are functioning without government interference. In addition, a condition is proposed that financial assistance will not be provided until Ukraine holds "free and fair elections."
The Trumpist also offered an amendment to Israel's funding package that calls for the funds to be used to "develop space technology on the U.S.-Mexico border". In a statement, Green clarified, "I previously voted in favor of funding space lasers for Israel's defense. America must take our national security seriously and deserves the same type of defense of our border that Israel has and proudly uses."
Marjorie Taylor Greene's actions, especially systemic anti-Ukrainian initiatives, are criticized within her party. For example, the day before, the Republican Fox News channel published a column with the telling title: "Marjorie Taylor Greene is an idiot. She's trying to destroy the Republican Party," which underscores the disapproval of her behavior among her fellow party members.
