“The Executioner from Tehran”

Who was Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash?

Raisi had been in office as President of Iran since August 3, 2021. He was a representative of the extremely conservative wing in Iranian politics, supported even greater Islamization of society, restrictions on women's rights and control of the Internet.

Raisi previously served as Hamadan prosecutor, Tehran prosecutor, and Iran's Attorney General.

In each of these positions, he participated in mass repression of opponents of the Ayatollah's regime. Raisi handed down death sentences, personally participated in torture, and oversaw the executions of political dissidents.

Raisi was one of four men involved in the mass executions of Iranian political prisoners in 1988. Then, over a five-month period, thousands of prisoners of conscience across the country were kidnapped and extrajudicially executed. Many of those killed were tortured and brutally abused.

He also oversaw the execution of minors and brutal torture of Iranian prisoners, including amputations.

For this, Iran's future president was nicknamed “The Executioner of Tehran.”

Ibrahim Raisi has visited Russia several times as Iran's president, including after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russia buys weapons from Iran, particularly Shahed-type attack drones used for mass attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Recall, yesterday afternoon Iranian media reported that the flight with Ibrahim Raisi made a “hard landing”. A rescue operation was launched, but due to bad weather the helicopter could be found only tonight.

It crashed near the border with Azerbaijan. The helicopter was significantly damaged and almost completely burned out.

Besides Raisi, Ayatollah Al Hashem, Imam of Juma Tabriz, Foreign Minister Hosein Amir Abdollahian, Governor of East Azerbaijan (region of Iran) Malik Rahmati and several other people were on board the helicopter. All of them were killed.

According to the head of the Iranian Red Crescent, the wreckage of the Iranian president's helicopter was found at an altitude of 2,500 meters.

Raisi himself and his entourage, most likely died an agonizing death, as the bodies that were found at the crash site were badly burned.
