The anti-terrorist prosecutor's office of France (PNAT) detained near the Paris airport Charles de Gaulle Russian agent who intended to blow up French military equipment intended for shipment to Ukraine. This is reported by the publication Le Journal du Dimanche.

The National anti-terrorist Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) has launched an investigation against the man on the case of “terrorist criminal association”. The name of the detainee is not called. According to Le Figaro, the suspect was born in Donbass, the 26-year-old man held a pro-Russian stance and “fought for the Russian army for two years.”

During a search of his room, police found materials and small arms intended for making explosive devices. According to BFMTV, they also found several passports and cell phones to make explosive devices.

In a hotel room in the Paris suburb of Val d'Oise, where the man lived, on Monday evening there was an explosion, writes The Guardian. The man was recorded serious burns received due to the explosion. The man was taken to the hospital and arrested on June 5.

“An initial examination of the scene revealed items and materials intended for the manufacture of explosive devices. One of these devices exploded,” the PNAT said.

The detainee denies the charges and calls the incident an accident and says he was trying to fix his cell phone battery.

The suspect is now in the custody of the General Directorate of Internal Security and is charged with participation in a criminal terrorist association and possession of explosives.

French authorities are on high alert on the eve of the Olympic Games in Paris. Earlier it became known that the country detained an 18-year-old native of Chechnya on suspicion of preparing a terrorist attack during the Olympics. According to the police, the detainee was preparing an explosion at the stadium.
