The search for the missing 9-year-old Ukrainian girl Valeria in the small town of Döbeln in Saxony, continues with considerable efforts of local law enforcement agencies for a week and has not yet led to any results.
Valeria, who moved with her mother to Germany because of the war in Ukraine, went missing on June 3, 2024. Classmates of the schoolgirl said that on the day of her disappearance she missed classes. In the morning she left the house as usual at 6:50 to go to school, but she never showed up for classes. Her classmate reported that he saw Valeria near the school - she was standing there as if waiting for someone.
The girl's father Roman is forced to stay in Ukraine, as he is currently serving in the Ukrainian army. He believes that his child could have been kidnapped.
"I appeal to those involved in her disappearance. Find the courage to return our beloved child to us, the parents. I really hope that soon I will be able to hold my daughter in my arms,” he said in the video, addressing the alleged perpetrators.
According to BILD, the mother's ex-boyfriend, whom Valeria also thought was her dad, lives in the Czechia. Police have already checked both men, they do not have the girl.
Police in Saxony are conducting extensive search operations throughout the town of Döbeln. These efforts include combing various areas and utilizing all available resources to locate Valerie.
Helicopters, divers and service dogs are searching for the girl in Döbeln. Police have seized more than 10 terabytes of CCTV footage. Photos of the girl are hung on the streets and published in social networks, they were given to the drivers of all buses.
According to the latest reports, police do not have any solid leads to locate Valerie. The investigation is ongoing and law enforcement continues to follow up on any potential clues or information provided by the public.
The local community has been actively involved in the search, with many residents participating in the search for Valerie. The case has garnered significant attention and there is collective hope for her safe return.
In an interview with BILD, the girl's grandmother, Vera, thanked all the volunteers and law enforcement officers involved in the search for the child.
"I am so grateful for all the help. I don't know what we would do without the support. I beg everyone who has any information about Valeria to contact the police,” she said.
